What Colours & Shades Are There?…

(find old lecture notes with bill from colour lecture in year two creative collab)

What is colour?

What is a shade/tone?

All colours derive from the three primary colours, which are RED, BLUE and YELLOW.  If either of these colours are mixed with one another, it creates the colours orange, green and purple. Depending on how much of each colour is mixed with one another, depends on the shade of colour that comes out. Black or white can be added to these new colours to make lighter or darker shades.

Below are some colour charts showing a range of shades of the main colours we know; Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink and Purple. I have also included some charts of the tones White and Grey.
